US Army refuses to disclose KBR indemnification agreement to Rep. Blumenauer

Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D. Or.) has done his part to get to the bottom of the sad story of Oregon National Guard soldiers exposed to toxic chemicals at the KBR Qarmat Ali facility. Rep. New Report: For-profit trade school misconduct

The Government Accounting Office released its report today,  GAO Report For Profit Colleges (pdf), highlighting a number of abuses by for-profit trade schools.  The GAO engaged in undercover testing to ferret out the fraud and abuse in for-profit admissions and lending.  Pretty scary stuff.

About Us

David Sugerman:

David represents consumers. His practice spans a range of areas, with a focus on complex injury and consumer class action cases.  David opened his solo law practice in January 2010. From 1991-2009, he practiced in the Portland law firm of Paul & Sugerman, PC. David is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Oregon.

David devotes a substantial portion of his professional time to pro bono activities. Most notably, he trains and mentors young attorneys through the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association’s New Trial Lawyer Academy. He has served on the Oregon Council on Court Procedures, the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association Board of Governors and various boards and committees.

Outside of work, David’s passions include good food, wine and beer, reading and writing, and the joys and challenges of being a dad and husband.

Marla Pfaff:

Marla Pfaff joins the firm as our paralegal. From 2004-2009, Marla worked for Paul & Sugerman, PC. Marla received her BA degree from  Seattle University. She worked for 12 years as an insurance adjuster before working with David Sugerman.

Marla’s responsibilities run the gamut from case management and development to firm administration to intake.  She brings a rare combination of smarts, professionalism and commitment to the firm.
